The Sveshtary royal tomb

An inside view of the Sveshtary tomb with the women figures. The tomb is known mainly by its women figures, which are called caryatids, allthought they are not exactly this. The most curious thing for me starting doing my diploma was that a lot of bulgarians don't know the tomb which is impossible I tought! Most of them don't even know the list of the UNESCO sites in Bulgaria! So tell me, how can we preserve our cultural heratage when we don't even know about it?

The Sboryanovo archeologic preserve

This is one of the bulgarian UNESCO sites and consists of two large tombs nekropolis in one of the biggest of which in 1982 was found the big royal tomb of Sveshtari in the Ginina tumulus. (it's called Ginina, because It was in the ground of grandmother Gina :). This is an unique tracian tomb from the 3th centurary B.C.

You can see here the mural paintings inside the "teke", the grave of the saint and the sacred spring which must be sacred from the tracian times.

I went in Sboryanovo on friday with my boyfriend and a friend of us. We went to see the tracian tombs, which I'll show you after, but they didn't wanted to see the muslim tomb, which was also built on the remains of an old tracian sanctuary.

The "teke" with the rock

This is a muslim tomb of the Iron father - Demir Baba. It's near Isperikh town in NE Bulgaria in the Sboryanovo archeologic preserve.

Tipical balcony

These balconies are so tipical in Malta. The architekture is a bit boring, but the colors of the balconies makes things different. This is a bit of arabic culture - as I remember the women used to sit there listening to the street gossips without been seen by the poeple on the street.

Three forified towns

Mdina, the capital Valletta (named on the head of the maltese order - La Valletta) and Citadella on the Gozo island. Malta is place of numerous battles.

They call it the Silent city, but I don't remember why. I do remember that Mdina is like the arabian sacred city Medina. You know Malta was a crossroad of different cultures. If you listen to their language you'll some english and arabian words, italian intonation, arabian numbers and greek phrases. It's so fastinating.

Hagar Qim

This one of the megalitic temples in Malta. I was there on an english school for two weeks and non of my co-students was interested in these temples. That's why I had to visit them on my own. They are so interesting and so strange-looking to me.
